Marvin Mogul and the baseball card sale

Ten-year-old Marvin was a real fan of baseball cards. In fact, his room was cluttered with them. He didn’t know how to get rid of them because he didn’t want to give them away or throw them away. So he asked his older brother, Tom, what to do. Tom said, “Sell them at a profit, sort of like when there’s a garage sale.” “Great idea,” said Marvin. He gathered most of his cards (he kept some so he wouldn’t have to restart his collection entirely). He also bought a magazine that told him the prices of all the baseball cards. He sold some cards when his parents had a lawn sale, and he sold the rest on the Internet with the help of his parents.

Marvin found that keeping good records and making sure that his collection was in good shape made a real difference when it came time to sell. He made more money because his collection was well preserved and catalogued.
